THE NAKED GROUSE COCKTAIL COMPETITION

OFFICIAL RULES

No purchase is necessary to participate in the Contest. The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. NO ENTRY FEE, PAYMENT, OR PROOF OF PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

CHALLENGE:

There are three stages of The Naked Grouse Cocktail Competition.

  1. Bartenders from Denver and Philadelphia will submit an original Naked Grouse Scotch Whisky cocktail that reflects their real, authentic and “Naked” personality and/or “Naked” moment.
  2. Bartenders in each market will be selected to participate in a regional competition, where they will make their recipe for a panel of judges.
  3. Each winner will win a trip to the other winning bartender’s city for a “Live Naked” experience.

PRIZE:

  • Each winner will win a trip to the other winning bartender’s city for a “Live Naked” experience.
  • Each winner will go to Naked Grouse events and live their “Naked” experience and create new “Naked” moments.
  • Airfare & Accommodations included.

TIMELINE:

  • March 16, 2018 12:00:01 a.m. PST – April 30, 2018 11:59:59 p.m. PST Open for online recipe submissions
  • May 2018: Regional competition events in 2 cities (Denver, CO; Philadelphia, PA)

GENERAL RULES:

  • Competitors must be at least 21 years of age
  • Competitors must be legal residents of Denver, CO; Philadelphia, PA



SELECTION PROCESS:

Phase 1 – Online Entries:

For the purposes of determining the regional finalists, entries will be assigned to the closest applicable market, as determined by the Sponsor. All complete entries submitted to nakedgrouse.liquor.com within the entry time frame will be judged against the below criteria based on the perceived qualities of the written recipes and essay entry.

Judges will not take into consideration current employer, time spent bartending or any other personal information in the selection of regional finalists.

Criteria:

Each competitor must enter one cocktail recipe:

  • The cocktail should have a creative name.
  • The cocktail recipe must include Naked Grouse Scotch Whisky as the primary ingredient, using a minimum of 1 oz.
  • Recipes must be original. An original recipe is the product of one's own mind and is not a copy or imitation.
  • Ingredients must be expressed in fluid ounces (.5 oz., 1 oz., 2 oz., etc.), with dashes and drops being the smallest quantities.
  • Preparation instructions must be included with your recipe.
  • An image of your cocktail must be included with your recipe.
  • A background story / description of your inspiration must be included in your entry. Must explain how this cocktail represents your “Naked” personality, personal “Naked” moment or a “Naked” truth.
  • You must be able to batch your cocktail in the event the recipe moves on to the regional competition.
  • Limit one full entry per person/email address.
  • A blind judging panel will review and score the entries. Initial scores will be based on the judge's' interpretation of the cocktail recipe, creativity, and background story.

  • Cocktail Name (10 points)
  • Appearance and Presentation (10 points)
  • Taste & Balance (40 points)
  • Written Background Story / Inspiration (20 points)
  • Creativity (10 points)
  • Product Knowledge (10 points)

Phase 2 – Regional Competition

For the purposes of selecting winners, local panels, as determined by the Sponsor, will judge regional events.

Regional competitions will be held in May 2018 in two markets:

  • Denver, CO
  • Philadelphia, PA

Bartenders who reside outside of the participating regions and are chosen to participate are responsible for their travel expenses to the regional events (if applicable).

Bartenders will be chosen based on their recipe submissions, by a blind panel. Qualifying bartenders will be invited to compete at one of the two regional competitions. At each regional competition:

  • Bartenders will compete by crafting their cocktail for consumers and a panel of judges.
  • Judges will select a 1st place winner from each regional competition.

Phase 3 – Prize

Each winner will win a trip to the other winning bartender’s city for a “Live Naked” experience.

GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recipes must be original. An original recipe is the product of one's own mind and is not a copy or imitation.

Any entries attempted through the use of agencies or robotic, repetitive, automatic, programmed or similar methods will be void. Any attempt by a person to use multiple email accounts or identities to gain more entries than permitted by these Official Rules shall result in disqualification at the sole discretion of Sponsor. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the "authorized account holder" associated with the email address at the time of entry, which must comply with these Official Rules. The authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by the service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses. Potential winners may be required to provide evidence (to Sponsor's satisfaction) that they are the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with a winning entry. In the event a dispute regarding the identity of the person who actually submitted an entry cannot be resolved to Sponsor's satisfaction, the affected entry will be deemed ineligible. Entries and other submitted material become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Refer to Additional rules below for more details regarding the requirements for your entry.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY:

Entries must be in English. Entries must not allude to the overconsumption or irresponsible consumption of beverage alcohol. Entries that do not include all required information and do not adhere to the foregoing and following requirements will be considered void and will not be considered in the judging of this contest. Entries that are deemed by Sponsor in its sole discretion to be illegal, obscene, profane or not in keeping with Sponsor's image will be disqualified.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

By submitting an entry, you warrant that:

  • You are the creator of the entry
  • The entry is wholly original
  • The entry does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party, including any current or former employer, and does not defame any person or identify any person by name or other identifying information
  • The entry has not previously been entered in any other contest
  • The entry has not been previously published in any medium
  • The entry does not violate any law or regulation
  • Sponsor's determination as to whether any entry potentially violates the rights of any third party is final.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS:

  • By entering this program, you are giving The Naked Grouse, Liquor.com and its affiliates explicit rights to use your photo, an image of your drink, drink recipe name, and your drink recipe for publicity purposes, including but not limited to: press, social media, digital activation and promotional activation.
  • Each contestant grants to Sponsor a worldwide, royalty free, perpetual and unlimited non-exclusive license to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, use, reproduce or distribute the recipe in any form or manner or media, whether now known or hereafter devised including, without limitation, on the Internet, for any purpose in connection with this competition without further notice or compensation to any contestant.
  • Each contestant consents to the publication and/or use of the contestant’s name, city/province of residence, photograph, image and/or likeness in any form or manner or media, whether now known or hereafter devised including, without limitation, on the Internet, for any purpose in connection with this competition without further notice or compensation to any contestant.
  • Each contestant represents and warrants that the recipe submitted by the contestant is the original work of the contestant exclusively, and contestant waives any and all moral rights that he/she may have in the Recipe with respect to the uses contemplated herein.
  • Each contestant represents and warrants that each recipe submitted by the contestant will not infringe any rights (including without limitation copyright, trademark, privacy, personality or other property, civil rights or intellectual property rights) of any person
  • Each contestant agrees, before being named as a Finalist, to sign any and all documents required by Sponsor confirming the foregoing

ELIGIBILITY:

Employees of The Naked Grouse, Liquor.com, their affiliates, liquor wholesale licensees, as well as advertising/promotion agencies and their immediate family members and household members of each and retail license holders are not eligible. This promotion is void wherever prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. In the event that the contest is challenged by any legal or regulatory authority, Sponsor or Administrator reserves the right to discontinue or modify the Contest, or to disqualify participants residing in the affected geographic areas. In such event, Sponsor and Administrator shall have no liability to any entrants who are disqualified due to such an action. You must be a resident of Denver, CO; Philadelphia, PA and at least 21 years of age to be eligible. Contest void wherever prohibited or restricted by law.

By accepting a prize, any winner: (a) releases The Naked Grouse/Liquor.com and their affiliated companies and licensed alcohol wholesalers and retailers from any/all liability claims, action or proceedings arising out of or for injuries or damages sustained while involved in any promotion activity or connection with the use of the prizes; as well as (b) consents to the use by The Naked Grouse/Liquor.com for promotional purposes in connection with this promotion, of his or her name and/or likeness and/or voice without further compensation where permitted.

The Sponsor and participating promotional companies are not in any way liable for damage, loss or injury resulting from computer malfunctions, misdirected or incomplete entries or acceptance and use of the prize. The Naked Grouse/Liquor.com reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this contest should virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the contest. The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate or suspend the contest. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communication line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. CAUTION: Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the game is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such attempt.

  1. Agreement to Terms and Conditions: By participating in this Contest, you indicate your unconditional agreement to the Official Rules, these Terms and Conditions, the Program Requirements, and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding. You cannot win a prize unless you comply with all requirements set forth herein. Sponsor reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions or the Program Requirements at any time, without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on https://nakedgrouse.liquor.com/. Moreover, by participating, you represent that you are complying with any policies your employer may have regarding participation in contests of this nature.

  2. General Conditions: In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the contest is impaired in any way, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest; or (b) award the prizes according to the criteria set forth above from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and seek damages from any individual who tampers with the operation of the Contest, violates these Terms and Conditions, or acts in a disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Proof of sending any communication to Sponsor by mail shall not be deemed proof of receipt of that communication by Sponsor. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.

  3. Release and Limitations of Liability: By participating in the Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, The Naked Grouse and The Edrington Group USA, LLC (Edrington Americas), and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (b) technical errors; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Contest or the processing of Entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property. You further agree to indemnify, release, and hold the Released Parties harmless from any claims that their use of your Entry (as contemplated in these Rules) violates or infringes upon the rights of any third party. You waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

  4. Disputes: Except where prohibited, you agree that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Terms and Conditions, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the governing state, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (under any jurisdiction in any US State), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction.

Signature Cocktail Competition
Guidelines

  1. This is a spirit on spirit cocktail, with famous brand serving as the base spirit. No muddled fruit, juices and or syrups should be used in making a Signature. Fruits, herbs, essences and spices may be used in infusions however.
  2. Modifiers such as fortified wines, bitters, tinctures, infusions and citrus oils are acceptable variables in a Signature cocktail.
  3. The ratio of modifier(s) to base spirit (famous brand) should never exceed 50:50. The cocktail should be not exceed 3.5 oz.
  4. The Signatures' traditional garnishes are a citrus twist or olives. Cocktail onions are also an acceptable garnish. When thinking of new garnishes, let your imagination run wild.
  5. The cocktail can be served up or on the rocks. In addition, it may be stirred or shaken. Glassware and presentation are up to the contestants.
